Cefalexin USP, BP, EP also called Cephacillin or Cephalexin. As a semi-synthetic(50%- synthetic) cephalosporin type antibiotic, Cefalexin Monohydrate has remarkable anti-microbial ability. This is is similar to that of cephaloridine or cephalothin, only difference is that Cefalexin Monohydrate is somewhat less potent. Cefalexin Monohydrate will target a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative organisms.

Cefalexin (Cephalexin) Monohydrate USP BP EP is commonly used to treat respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, superficial infections, urinary tract infections, etc. Cefalexin compacted and powder USP BP EP is effective against most gram-positive bacteria.
Mechanism of Action of Cephalexin or Cefalexin Compacted and powder:
Cephalexin or Cefalexin, lis a B-lactam antibiotic. It will binds to specific penicillin-binding proteins located inside the bacterial cell wall. Cephalexin or Cefalexin USP BP, EP will stop 3rd and last stage of bacterial cell wall synthesis. Then Cephalexin monohydrate will severely harm infecting bacteria cell wall, and thereby stops them from growing and multiplying. Cephalexin or Cefalexin powder and compacted USP BP EP only kills the susceptible bacteria. It is totally ineffective against viruses, parasites, or fungi.
